What does an Interior Designer do?

Interior designers draw upon many disciplines to enhance the function, safety, and aesthetics of interior spaces. Interior designers work with different colors, textures, furniture, lighting, and spaces to meet the needs of a building’s occupants. Designers plan interior spaces of almost every type of building, including offices, airport terminals, theaters, shopping malls, restaurants, hotels, schools, hospitals, and private residences. Some even specialise in yachts. Good design can boost office productivity, increase sales, attract a more affluent clientele, provide a more relaxing hospital stay, or increase a building’s market value. These are a few reasons why this course involves detailed theory and study of ergonomics.

This is a growing industry with many architectural firms incorporating interior design services and the expanding awareness of home owners who are realising the importance of a pleasing interior.

This course covers essentials as well as advanced skills including AutoCAD instruction. Graduates of this course enter industry as qualified interior designers or start their own designing company.

I enjoy learning different programmes like sketchup for 3d’s and Autocad. I also combine them and use Photoshop to render out elevations and floorplans. My tutors are very helpful and give me good individual attention.
