What does a Photographer do?

A photographer records life, and their surroundings, and events so that they can be remembered in pictures. A photographer is a creative person who uses light as his brush to realize his vision of the scene to finally display it preferably on print or visual media. The appreciation from an intended audience is the photographer’s reward and  motivation.

This course takes the aspiring photographer from amateur to freelance level, learning the basics of each skill and element that make up this growing industry.


FAST TRACK   40 weeks in duration
  3 course modules every 4 weeks
INTENSIVE   60 weeks in duration
  3 course modules every 6 weeks
FLEXIBLE   80 weeks in duration
  3 course modules every 9 weeks
These study time frames are just a guideline to help the student establish their own study schedule, a student may even decide to move from one option to the next. A student can change a due date at any time prior to the original date set by the college. All due dates are set to the "FAST TRACK" option upon registration.

For accessories you will require:
Good Wide angle lens (anything from 10mm - appr 55 / 70mm)
Good telephoto (70mm - 200mm/300mm)
Adaptable and rotatable flash - on camera flash is not sufficient

If possible also:
Radio trigger for flash

MATTHEW WILLMAN - Celebrity Photographer

Matthew Willman works professionally as a commercial / documentary photographer in Southern Africa and Europe. He is widely regarded in the industry for branding and capturing human stories from rural school children through to working with no less than 8 Nobel Peace Prize Recipients.

Matthew has had the privilege of working for the past 7 years as a commissioned photographer to the Nelson Mandela Foundation, an example of his work being the hand portrait of Nelson Mandela which today is the iconic logo for the 46664 HIV & Aids campaign.

His work has exhibited internationally in Canada, South Africa, England, Wales, Italy, Australia and Mexico, with exhibited works ranging from Robben Island, HIV & AIDS, Inanda Heritage, Nelson Mandela, & environmental awareness issues.

He is currently working on exhibitions in London and New York for 2011 / 2012.
